Google is working to improve the way its browser works on Windows 10.
The company recently released a new version of Chrome 87, which has seen a solid performance boost. The browser still uses a lot of RAM.
As clarifies the portal Windowslatest, Google engineers are working on PartitionAlloc FastMalloc – a feature that will keep the level of active memory usage by 10% for certain processes. Thus, Chrome should consume fewer resources and become more productive.
The original plan was to use the new Segment Heap feature for Windows 10. It has already helped reduce memory consumption by 27% in the Chromium-based Edge browser.
However, Google completely abandoned Segment Heap – it turned out that Microsoft was unable to implement the ability to control how the computer’s heap was organized. This reduces the productivity of the processes.
